Roof rack
Hi, all...I just bought a 2010 Touring GLS and absolutely love it!
I'm an avid longboard surfer and specifically bought the wagon for surf trips as well as daily driving. The Wagon came with a naked roof, so I've been researching the Inno IN-SU rack system which is said to have a non-drill, clamp and lock application system. Everything I've read and seen online looks good. Does anyone have any experience with this type of roof rack system? I definietly don't want to drill the roof or mar it in any way. Also...any ideas on aftermarket all-weather mats with a good fit? I've searched the forum for info and couldn't find anything.
Thanks,
George

Hey, cubfan. I don't have experience with any particular brand of roof racks, but I wanted to let you know that this site sells various roof rack attachments made specifically for Hyundai vehicles: http://www.hyundaiaccessorystore.com...d_carrier.html
Also, as far as custom all-weather mats, that site also has these: http://www.hyundaiaccessorystore.com...ther_Mats.html

Thanks for the lead. Unfortunately those surfboard straps require rails and crossbars which I don't have. Those rubber mats, though, look good. I noticed they're specifically made for an Elantra. Just wondering if they'd fit a Touring too???

A good rack shop will put you right. They are all about customer service since that is the only way they can compete with the online stores. Inno is a strong competitor to Yakima and Thule, and surfboards are light so your decision will be easier than if you were shopping for kayaks/canoes. After much online research/opinion polling I'd suggest staying away from car factory racks/load bars.

Hyundai sells load bars for naked roofs in their accessory shop.
I'm sure they're fine for surf boards. But if you ever decide to add kayaking to your watersports you may opt for something heavier duty. I don't see the weight limit for the Hyundai racks. Thules are rated to 165 lbs.

Thanks to everyone for all the ideas. I decided to go with the Inno IN-SU base with 46 inch crossbars, Inno fairing to cut down on wind noise, an Inno board locker that will lock down my surfboards to the crossbars while I'm inside ordering a taco, and a crossbar extension rod that I can hang towels or my wetsuit on. The grand total came to $465 w/free shipping from ORS Racks Direct. I'm pretty stoked!!!
The surf wagon is almost complete and the road trip will be on! Next payday...all weather mats; and then, who knows???
