I bought a 2008 Santa Fe with a bad engine. I replaced it with a used engine and it runs good but the compressor pulley is 1/2 " +-.out of alignment toward the Wheel well on the passenger side the compressor mounts correctly. I saw a post where someone had the same problem. I have not seen any replies to this. I am a professional Mechanic/Shop owner since 1967. Was first certified as a master Technician by ASE in 1984. I have recertified a couple of times since then. I have never encountered anything like this before. I want to think they may have changed the compressor pulley. I have not been able to locate one that I think will correct this issue. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

 

In reading your post, I get very curious as to the engine swap.Could there be something different in the engines themselves?

As you know the problem has to have a beginning and that is where we have to start and examine every aspect of what might be different.
Also, as a past ASE Master Tech, we know the value of doing detective work, AND, sometimes a solution can be staring us right in the face.
That is the difference, we are not afraid to ask for help, because by this time we realize we don't know everything.

I would go back and recheck if the original set ups are identical and if not why not ?
There is a difference someplace and that needs to be determined by comparison and checking. What do you think?
