Default [SOLVED] Replace front and rear engine mounts

Hi everybody

I am planning on replacing the front and rear anti-roll engine mounts, while supporting the engine with a jack.

Any recommandations ?

Thanks

If you are planning to lift the engine by placing the jack under the oil pan, make sure you place a piece of wood between the jack and the oil pan or the jack could go through the pan. The idea is to spread the lifting force out and not concentrate it in one place because the oil pan is not designed to support the weight of the engine.Something like a 2X6 approx 1 foot long.. Make sure it extends past the edges of the pan to spread out that force. The ideal procedure is to use a lifting tool designed to lift the engine by the lifting eyes on most engines.

Yeah, what Hanky said.
Do not lift the engine and car up by the oil pan
Only support the engine with wood and jack

BTW, why are you changing motor mounts?
Did you inspect them and tested them?

Most folks have no idea what happens when you tramp down on the accelerator pedal for a fast getaway.
This places a lot of torque force on the motor mounts and can in some cases RIP them apart.
A lot less expensive to just drive normally or don't make a practice of jack rabbit starts.
