06 3.5L V6 Replacement
My daughter has an 06 Santa Fe with the 3.5L V6. The motor has over 210,000 miles on it. I just completed the water pump, timing belt and crank sensor. The car ran great for about a week then stopped as she was leaving the house. I tried to start it and the start just spun. I thought the started was bad, but I replaced it and same thing. Checked compression on the front head and there is no compression. Pulled the timing covers off and everything is in time, but the new belt has a band broke so something catastrophic happened. With this many miles I found a junk yard engine with less than 100,000 miles and was going to swap it out. I searched but did not find any forums with anyone doing this. Does anyone have any documentation or can point to me the correct forum? I'm assuming the engine will come out of the bottom, but some documentation or piggy backing off someone else's thread would be a great help.
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.
You may have another option here.
If you replaced the starter then you should be able to remove it once more. What you should be looking for is a broken flex plate connecting the flywheel to the crankshaft. Of course the trans would need to be removed to replace the flywheel, but cheaper and less trouble to just replace the flexplate,,,,,,,,,,,if necessary
If you decide to check this , let us know what you find, thanks.
