I have a 2004 santa fe 4 cylinder. I purchased it about 16 months ago with 71k miles on it and had the timing belt changed within a month. well 9000 miles later my belt just broke while driving. No warning light on and was running fine. Before I do anything, is it a fact that the engine is toast? absolutely no question?

I found out that the oil pump stopped working and that is what ultimately caused the engine to go. I replaced the engine. BTW, when I picked up the vehicle and realized it had 111k miles on it, not 114k (but close enough). I also found out that there was another Hyundai Santa Fe in the shop at the same time as mine with the same issue. I did call Hyundai and they said that they couldn't do anything about it because it was out of warranty.
