Default 2003 Santa Fe Engine Seized

Hi,

Just curious if I could get an opinion from you folks. My sister in law has a 2003 Santa Fe that she purchased used about a year ago. In April the engine seized and the dealership replaced it. They never told her the cause but there was no oil in the engine. A couple of weeks ago she had the same issue where the engine seized yet again. My question is two fold. The first is has anyone heard of issues with the engine in the 03 Santa Fe? Secondly, after arguing with the dealership they have agreed to replace the engine even though its out of warranty so long as she pays $2,500 in labor charges. Does the labor charge seem a bit hi or is it just me?

Thanks for the help...

Rich

Hey..this is weird but I have a 2005 Hyundai Santafe 2.7 and it broke the rear main seal...left my car without oil...the only thing that it saves me at that moment was that my oil pressure switch was working and my warning light came up and i inmediately stopped my car.....but after i took it to the mechanic and fix it...(more than $600.00) my timing belt pulley seized and i end up buying an used engine for 600.00 and paid 600.00 for labor...saved a lot of money...because the dealer was asking me for 1,200.00 just for labor...and 2.700.00 to repair the whole thing.....
