Default 2008 Santa fe 2wd six, Brake issue?

Just returned from my Mechanic, I was told I need both rear rotors and pads replaced. 30,000 $506.00. I also was told that Hyundai makes a very thin rotor disk and cant be turned down. OK..I,ve replaced rear and front pads and rotors on older cars but his explaining doesnt sit well. Have you guys had this issue? and does it sound right?

Thanks Ken

Measure the rotors. If they are thinner than spec then they need to be replaced. Personally, I don't like cutting rotors. New rotors are cheap.
