Default Checking oil level

Our newly purchased 2008 Sante Fe with the 3.3 engine has been showing the oil level differently when checked immediately after checking. If I check it 5-10 minutes after driving it shows midway between full and add when I pull out the dipstick. The odd thing is that when I put it back in and pull it out again it now ready about 1/16 inch above full. It had been doing this so I drained about 1/4 quart out last week. After doing this the first pull is lower than it was but the second pull is still the same about above full. I can't figure out why after re-inserting the level shows higher and why even after emptying some it still shows the same level on the second pull. Any ideas? Has anyone had an issue with their oil level being slightly above the full mark?

Gotta wait a little longer than 5 minutes after driving. The oil has to drain back down to the pan. And a 1/16" over full isn't going to cause a problem.

I just purchased a 2007 Santa Fe 3.3L, and did an oil change. I too noticed that after refilling with exactly 5.5 quarts, the oil level on the dipstick looked a little high. This was after the vehicle had sat overnight.
