Default Defogger relay

Hi all, I have a problem with my front & rear defoggers on 2005 Santa Fe CRDi 2.0.
At tickover, the switch will not activate the defoggers & there is a 'clcik' in the dashboard but at 1500 rpm, they will turn on (front & rear). As I accelerate/decelerate they switch off if the rpm varies by more than 150 rpm either way. The will work for a small rpm range at intervals of approx. 1000rpm (1500, 2500 etc). I visited a car centre & they advised, to check the relay. I've looked in the manual & I'm struggling to find it. Does anyone know where the relayis, or have any ideas what the cause of this problem may be?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

First things first, the front and rear defroster are 2 different things. The rear is an electric element on the rear glass that heats up the defrost the window. The front defroster (technically a defogger) uses the vents to blow warmed air on the windshield to defog/defrost the glass.

Now, if you hear clicking, what you are hearing is the relays clicking on and off. So the problem is probably elsewhere.

Having said that, I had a similar issue in my 2006 Tucson where the blower motor for the HVAC system would go on and off while I drove. The problem turned out to be the control unit assembly for the entire HVAC system. That's where I would start.

Hi NovaResource, I think we have slightly crossed wires here. The Santa Fe has a front electric element defog but it is only a thin strip designed to de-ice the wiper blade.
The blowers all work fine, along with the air con. My problem is purely the heated elements. The local car centre I visited, was a alternnator specialist, who admitted they were not auto electricians. I visited them because I have my battery light on, even though the alternator is inly 6 months old & was advised, this was a blown diode in the alternator. I was suspecting the battery light & defogging problems were linked, but, the alternator centre dimissed this.
Thanks for your response.
