Default how long have you gone before you change timing belt?

On my 2002 santa fe v6 i gone 198.00 miles when i changed my timing belt for the first times and i have driven 98 miles since, but i no i been lucky so I'm going to change it now.. how long have any one else gone? I also changed my spark plugs at the same time to!!!!!! Best reliable car i have ever had....

What you neglected to tell everyone is that you HAD to change the timing belt at 198,000 miles because it broke:

And that was AFTER you were warned. Going more than 60,000 miles on a belt is foolish and asking for trouble.

Yes, they are reliable cars but they are even more reliable when you maintain them properly.

2006 Elite 163k KM's Belt was changed at 130kKM's. Check drive shafts at same time too. Mine have some slight slop when taking off a chunter when going round left corners.

I bought a 2005 Santa Fe with the 2.7L engine with about 127,000 miles on it. Not knowing when the timing belt had been changed, I had it changed at around 140,000 miles. And yes, the old belt was cracking and obviously worn. So we guessed that it looked like the original belt.
