New Serpentine Belt Noise
I just joined here in hope of getting some advice.
I have a 2004 Santa Fe with 74000 miles. I just had the serpentine belt and tensioner replaced after the original broke as I was going down the highway. Now it seems to me like the engine is much noiser than before. It sounds sort of like a diesel engine rumble on the right side of the car. It's fairly quiet at idle and gets louder as I accelerate. The dealer says it's normal for an older car to be noiser when a new belt is installed and it will get quieter as the belt breaks in. Is this true? Outside of the new noise the car is running fine, but I've got a feeling that I'm due for another ride in a tow truck.
Any insight into this would be appreciated.
