Hi I am looking into buying a low mileage 2001 Santa fe 2.7 v6 and was hoping you could kindly tell me what to look out for when checking it out before purchase ? Also what mileage per gallon can I expect driving sensibly ? Thank you in advance for your help . Regards Christopher

 

The undercarriage of the 2001 Santa Fe is prone to severe rusting if it's exposed to a lot of salty conditions during the winter months (salt belt states). There was a recall for the trailing arms. Both of my rear ones rusted out and the dealer said he was suprised my wheels didn't fall off. So inspect them to make sure they are in good condition (or have been replaced per the recall).

In terms of gas mileage expect to get somewhere between 17-22 mpg for the 4WD edition and a few more mpg for the 2WD.

 

Side note -- recall been running for a year now.. Contact Hyundai USA if you is not the registered original owner and get your vehicle owner info updated, or see dealer and ask them to do same on HYundai USA site... that way Hyundai knows vehicle still on road and who owns it.
