Default Windshield washer not working in cold weather?

Hello, I purchased my first Hyundai a month ago. It's an 05 Santa Fe 2.7 4WD and so far it has been treating me great.

I live in Colorado and when it gets below freezing, the windshield washer won't spray. I am using wiper fluid which is rated to -25 degrees. However when it gets below 30, the washer doesn't work.

Is this a common problem and do you have any suggestions on fixing it?

Thank you!

The lines are either clogged, kinked or frozen.

I live where it gets colder and mine still work. I would suspect that you didn't get your lines flushed out enough with the cold weather washer fluid before the temp dropped.

If your washer fluid is a different colour like ours, then you should see that colour when you do spray. Use a hair dryer and try thawing the lines and running the pump. See if you can hear the pump running.

I also have the correct washer fluid however mine were frozen this morning (18-def F last night) Just because it says it's good to -25 doesn't mean it won't freeze in the lines. Just a small amount of water on the nozzle itself could block the spray.

Washer fluid rated to -25 shouldn't freeze at -18 unless your thermometer is wrong or the fluid is old.

I have seen washer fluid turn to slush close to -40 but that is an extreme case and it was a cheaper brand.

The washer fluid won't freeze in the tank at -18 but in small quantaties, like at the nozzles, it can. There are plenty of times I'll spray the windshield and after the wipers clear the windshield, the small residue left will freezes over quickly. What is probably happening is the alcohol in the fluid in the nozzle is evaporating and leaving just water. That then freezes and blocks the nozzle outlet. Totally normal.
