[2015 Sonata 2.0 Sport] - Unidentified Cluster LCD Screen / Icon
Hello. Please help me to identify this instrument cluster icon.
Description:
- The instrument cluster LCD has shown an undocumented icon twice over the last three days.
- The icon takes up the entire LCD screen, no other graphics are shown.
- The background is black and the the icon color is grey.
- The shape of the icon is that of a commercial product 'power symbol'; that is, a circle with a vertical line cutting through the top toward the center. Similar to: This Image.
Preconditions:
- The icon appeared once after i started the car prior to shifting to reverse and a second time after I had been driving for 20 or so seconds.
Details:
- In both cases, the screen appeared on top of a previously rendered screen after the 'system scan'.
- When the icon was displayed, the screen contained no other text or other graphical elements other than the power symbol.
- The icon was displayed for ~2 seconds.
Additional Followup:
- The con does not appear to be in the owners manual and my local Hyundai dealership had no idea.
- I called corporate Hyundai and they were not sure off hand which screen this may be and have opened a case.
Other Thoughts:
- The first time I thought it was strange but thought that maybe it was something else. The second time I saw it, I got a good look and I am positive of the description.
- I have not mistaken it for the steering wheel or tire pressure icons which are well known.
- There do not seem to be any adverse effects.
- No DTCs were set.
Ideas? Anyone ever seen this icon before?
Thanks,
- Eric

Sometimes we need to play detective and look in the most unusual places.
Has the battery ever been replaced in your vehicle?
When was the last time the charging system was checked out?
If there is some problem with the push button start, have you noticed anything like that?
Has there ever been a time when things stopped working momentarily and then all of a sudden they worked ?
How long does the icon remain on the screen? What do you do to make it go out if anything?
Could this be for the use of the touch screen manufacturer only?

I am on the original battery, never checked the charging system but it turns over strong.
No issue with push button start that is obvious.
No, spontaneous issues or obvious network disconnects; but i do suspect a system boot timing issue, maybe a timeout is resulting in an unexpected screen showing. For example, what would the LCD show if it was disconnected from the CAN bus and then powered?
It says on the screen for around 2 seconds, standard window animation to the foreground and back to previous screen.
It might be an engineering screen. Its possible that it exists and is only meant to be shown in unusual circumstances as mentioned above.
No idea and Hyundai hasn't provided any information yet. Only their requirements engineering team or the actual equipment manufacturer probably knows what it is because they have the logic and flow specs for the cluster lcd.
