I have an 03 Sonata 4 cy with 230,000 on it. Recently had a timing belt fail. I replace the timing belt, counter balance belt, water pump, 4 valves and all of the lifters. Car starts right up, no dashboard lights, and gas milage is fine. Car runs very rough, with a lot of vibration. Engine mounts seem to be fine.

Any thought??

 

Do you have the vibration when the vehicle is running in park or only when moving?

 

A little of both, start up cold rough than smooths out once warmed up. when driving it is rougher and a bit nosiy. seems to be coming from the general area near the belts

 

After reviewing the service manuala and finding a great video on youtube I found the route to my problem. The oil pump sproket works off of its own balance at a 3 to 1 ratio. There is a gravity trick you can do to see if it's in the right place as well as a bolt that can be removed by the exhaust manifold to check if it is indeed correct. The engines purr's like a kitten with no vibrations.
