200,000+ mile club
Yesterday my '06 Sonata GL 2.4L hit 225,000 miles on my way home from work. This has been an awesome car! I have only had one non-routine repair done to it, and that was replacement of a sensor/switch that was causing the manual shifting mode to not work. The repair cost around $300 and wasn't even absolutely necessary since everything was working fine in fully-automatic mode. I tow a trailer every now and then and use the manual mode to drop a gear or two when towing up steep hills. Other than that, everything has been routine. I change the oil every 5,000 miles using full synthetic and Napa Gold filters. I had a tune-up done at 150,000 miles, including replacing the serpentine belt and tranny fluid (I put synthetic in there too). The engine is still strong, the transmission is nice and smooth with no slippage at all, and I still get 32+ highway mpg in the summer. I let the car warm up in my driveway a bit in the winter so my highway mpg in the wintertime is close to 29mpg. I have a 125 mile round-trip commute for work every day and up until we bought our 2011 Santa Fe Limited the Sonata was our normal run-around car. Despite not racking up the miles as quickly as I used to, I still expect to hit 250k miles sometime late this year. I'm hoping to keep the car until it has at least 300k miles on it. Then I MIGHT replace it. With another Hyundai, of course.
Anybody else have 200,000+ miles on their Sonata or any other Hyundai model?

Wow! Definately a great story! ...Just goes to show how one owner who has taken the proper care of his vehicle (...changing oil on time, proper tune-ups when necessary, etc...) which has resulted in a very dependable vehicle from Hyundai that has unbelievably broken 200K miles on the same engine. Very impressive. Hoping to see the same success with my 2011 Sonata as well which has a whopping 21K miles on her so far! Lol!
