i've had my 2004 hyundai sonata lx for a while now and every time we get a good hard rain my passenger side floorboard fills with water. i took it to a glass shop and they found a place in the firewall that was leaking so i took it to a body shop and they repaired the place. and now my carpet is filling with water again but mainly in the passenger side rear floor area. i've dumped hundreds of gallons of water and havent been able to get the car to leak. the weird part is it feels like just the floor itself, the higher place around the area where you put your feet are always dry. anybody ever had any experience with problems like this? it has a sunroof too.

 

Make sure the drain for the A/C condenser isn't blocked. If it is, the water will back up into the passenger floor.

 

yeah, i thought of that myself but i checked and all the sweat off the evaporator is draining onto the ground, plus the leak is mainly in the rear area. i'm taking the car to a friend that does auto glass tomorrow afternoon and hopefully he can find it, if not i'm not sure what direction to go in this situation. car only has 48k so i really want to keep it.

 

Does it have a sunroof? Check those drains too.

 

i did blow compressed air through the drains on the sunroof in hopes that it would dislodge any blockages. are their any drains that vent out on the underside around the floorpan?

yeah turns out it is the passenger side sunroof drain, letting water in pretty quickly too when you pour it directly in the drain. is their any way to tell if it's kinked or if it's broken? this one still lets water out at the wheels but also in the floor

 

There is probably a hole in the line or it's disconnected.

 

yeah, it's got to be a hole since water still drains down behind the passenger side front wheel. is their any way to pull the line or repair the tube or does hyundai have to do it?
