Exclamation 2004 Sonata buying assistance

I'm looking to purchasing a 2004 sonata, 4cyl, 77k, auto. What info and advice can you provide me? What are some common fail points to check out when looking at the car? common rust spots? Things I should ask the owner. ANY info you can provide me about these cars would be great.
Thanks alot. Will report back how it goes.

Nothing major. Make sure the timing belt was changed ay 60K miles. If it wasn't, I'd get it done ASAP. That will probably cost $500 so factor that into your purchase price.

Ask if he is the original owner, if not how long has he/she had it,do they have maintance records, why he is selling it. If they don't hee haw with these answers move on to the next step. Walk around the car paying close attention to the LINES on the hood, doors, rear hatch, between the doors make sure they are all uniform, run your finger down the cracks to feel for paint ridges.Raise the hood look at the inner fender covers for body work, remove the oil cap try to see if it looks clean or dirty inside. I can go on and on on buying a used car. If you want more tips just send an email to lulu021@yahoo.com and let me know. Good Luck

2 Months ago I bought a 2004 V6 Sonata LX with 40,000 miles from the original owner (55 year old lady) in Florida for $6,500. I feel like I got a good deal. It is loaded with sunroof, leather etc...She had all maintenance records, most were documented in Carfax. It really depends where you live and the shape of the vehicle. My Sonata was in perfect condition except for the tires, they were the original. I would definitely get a Carfax on all used vehicles.
