My engine is knocking and I'm thinking about replacing it and doing some performance upgrades on that engine. How should I go about this? Should I buy a replacement i4 sonata engine, a different engine, build from scratch, use the old one? I also need help finding sources for buying forged parts etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

 

I don't know if you would call this help, but there are a few things we don't know like how much $$$ you want to spend, miles and condition of your vehicle , past maintenance history and then some.
So,,,,,,,,,, do you know what is causing the knock and how much it would cost to correct ? If $$$ is no object, why not go to a newer and higher performance vehicle?
As you can see , there are several alternatives and the decision is based on the previous conditions listed.

 

the car is in great condition no rust or anything, engine has 165k miles but sounds like something is being thrown around the engine, it was still running great but it worries me. Looking to get 250-500hp out of something. I want a nice sleeper car
