Default Aftermarket armrest for 2006 Sonata?

I am close to buying a 2006 Sonata. The GLS package looks great. The LX actually is mostly things I either don't care about or that I actively do NOT want. The things that appeal most to me about the LX are the sliding armrest and telescopic wheel. I currently drive an Aerostar with captains chairs and every car I test drove (pretty much everything in the compact to large sized sedan market) was the same: no effective armrest. I'm so used to being able to steer while I rest my right arm on the armrest that I can't see having a car without it.

So, does anyone know if there is an aftermarket armrest that would extend further forward? Maybe I can get the LX part and add it on myself? I'm thinking that I can do without the telescopic wheel if I have a sufficient armrest. The dealers that I spoke with have all said that I can't get either feature without buying the full $2K LX package. I realize this sounds like a silly pet peeve but I know it will bother me as long as I own the car if I can't remedy it.

Help!!!!!

Thanks!

Default RE: Aftermarket armrest for 2006 Sonata?

I too wanted decent armrests in my new car. I have been driving Ford Explorers for many years and am used to resting my arms on the rests while driving. Unfortunately my new Sonata is like all the other small/medium cars with nearly useless armrests.
I suggest you just try to order an armrest from the LX model from your local Hyundai parts dept and see what they say. I bet it will be pricey though.
Another thing I dislike about my car and other similar cars is the seats. A good seat will extend under the thighs to the knees and provide comfort and support to the legs. My seat is not comfortable because it does not do this. The right leg never really has a chance to relax.
Other than that and the fuel sloshing noise, it runs good. looks good and is good on gas.
