Hey guys, I have a 09 gls 4cly. 25,000 miles I have a main bearing broke. The dealership is taking their sweet time with my car right now. Has anyone else had problems like this ?

Nope, no problems here. Whisper quiet except for the tic-tic-tic of the fuel injectors....

No, I have over 100,000 kms on my 2006 Sonata with the 3.3 V6 and have had no mechanical problems.

sorry to hear of this trouble. i know it's a pain to be without a vehicle, however, with something like this, will the dealer provide a rental??

as for the time of the repair, there are proceedures that need to be taken into consideration when doing a warranty repair. i have worked at several dealerships, so the actual protocal may vary, but in no case was a simple swap ever done (except for bmw nikasil v8's). there may even be an adjuster come out to inspect the vehicle prior to the repair being done.

you can, however, be polite and patient with the service department (but take very detailed notes in the event they *are* brushing you aside).

remember, if this is a warranty repair, hyundai will not pay anymore than what it has to to repair the vehicle. translation, they may request the motor be removed and broken down to be inspected *prior* to approval for a new engine to be certain this wasn't a case of neglect. if you have kept service receipts you shouldn't have any trouble though. but if you haven't changed the oil in 12k miles you might be in for a bit of a struggle.

just trying to shed some insight from the other side of the sevice counter, that's all. good luck with the repair, i hope it will all work out for you.
