Help with trouble shooting rear e-break issues
Hey guys, I'm working on a 2004 sonata and having trouble with the e-break, specifically the rear emergency break shoe removal. Is it possible to remove this part without removing the rear wheel hub or is this absolutely necessary. Any tips or places you might know to look for help is appreciated!
-Thanks, Kevin.

Not sure, but believe that the e-brakes are part of the disc brake system
Check the brake cable and see if it heads into the hat portion of the rotor
Or, if the cable goes to a lever on the inboard side of the disc brake caliper.
That should tell you for sure.

help with e brake issue
the disk brake is separate from the e brake on this design my problem is space and lack of it.. imagine that if you would on more modern cars of today .. what i am trying to see if there is away around the wheel hub flange to get to the e brake shoes without removing the wheel hub, i realize i must first remove the caliper bracket, caliper and rotor????? thanks kevin

You don't have to remove the hub. I replaced the e-brake shoes on my Tucson with removing the hub. But you do have to remove the caliper, caliper bracket and rotor.
My question is, what is the problem? I had over 100,000 miles on my e-brake shoes and they still had life left in them.
