We have updated our reliability stats for the Sonata to include owner experiences through September 30, 2012.

Repair frequencies, in terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year:

2012: 30, better than average

2011: 52, about average

2010: 17, better than average, small sample size

2009: 18, better than average

2008: 31, better than average

2007: 36, better than average

2006: 45, better than average

2005: 44, better than average, very small sample size

2004: 69, about average

We have two additional statistics, "Nada-odds" and "Lemon-odds," to indicate the percentage of cars with no repairs in the past year and those that required 3+ trips to the repair shop.

These stats for the years we have them:

2011: 60, 2

2009: 82, < 1

2008: 72, < 1

2006: 70, 5

We'll have further updates in February and May. We'd love to provide more precise stats and cover more model years--just a matter of getting more owners involved.

We've updated our reliability stats for the Sonata to include owner experiences through June 30, 2013. Another source is about 14 months behind.

Repair frequencies, in terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year:

2013 Sonata: 12, low
2012 Sonata: 19, low
2011 Sonata: 66, high
2010 Sonata: 24, low, small sample size
2009 Sonata: 25, low
2008 Sonata: 21, low
2007 Sonata: 44, low
2006 Sonata: 41, low
2005 Sonata: 47, low, very small sample size
2004 Sonata: 50, low, small sample size

We have two additional statistics, "Nada-odds" and "Lemon-odds", to indicate the percentage of cars with no repairs in the past year and those that required 3+ trips to the repair shop:

2011 Sonata: 56, 3
2009 Sonata: 74, < 1
2006 Sonata: 71, 3

The resource I use is CarComplaints.com | Car Problems, Car Complaints, & Repair/Recall Information

I owned an 09 sonata, and loved it. I only had the TPS go out on it once, and the dealership fixed it for free (even out of warrantee at the time).

Carcomplaints is a good source for some information, but they can't provide reliability stats, which is what we focus on.
