Sonota 2022 1.6L 8 speeds transmission not that smooth ?
Hi everyone,
I would like to know from other owners what they think about the 8 speeds transmission used in the 2020-2022 Sonata and other Hyundai models. My 2022 Sonata has less than 4000 miles on it.
In my case, the transmission is a bit clunky at low speed. An example; around 15 mph, if I completly release the gas pedal than gently reapply it a 2 seconds later, it feels like there is a gap where the engine reconnect with the transmission. Often you can hear a mechanical noise of gears re-engaging (like there is some slack?!) It reminds my of my old 1988 Mustang 5.0 with a 5 speeds shifter; very loose! When I decelerate, the downshift from 3 to 2 is a bit rough.
Maybe the transmission is built like that or maybe it's not perfectly in order?! I'm quite sure that if I take it to Hyundai, they will ignore this. I would guess that if the transmission is a bit faulty, it will degrade rapidly.
Thx in advance for any comments.

What you might consider is ;
Jot down everything you do to create the problem and if if does it all the time you do what you do. That helps the shop narrow down the cause more than just saying it does this or that.
If you provide the conditions ,then they can too, and that helps a lot.

My model is not equipped with a dual clutch.
It's been 2 months since I posted this problem and... it went away 2 weeks ago just like that. Very very stange?! I thought it could be related to the temperature getting colder here in Canada (~12C) but we also had a few warn days around 22C (warm for fall) and the transmission was still ok.
I don't know how a mechanical issue can go away like that... But I'll take it!
