Default RE: diff lock for the Terracan

Din,

I am looking to install a rear and perhaps a front ARB Air Locker on my Terracan. But I can't get the prices from ARB until I know the technical details about the diffs. I thought they were borrowed form the Pajero, but according to Hyundai, that is not the case.
They can't tell me the exact details, and I have been adviced to let a mechanic (the car is still under warranty) take apart the diffs to get the details. But this is expensive.
Do you have the details of the diffs? The Pajero is as follows, but is not identical to the Terracan:

>RD110 - Front Air Locker.
>RD25 - Rear Air Locker for disc brake models.
>
>
>The specifications for differentials are as follows:
>
>Specifications: RD110
>
>* 28 spline axle
>
>* 28.8mm [1.10"] axle shaft diameter (outside of splines)
>
>* 10 bolt ring gear
>
>* 124mm [4.88"] dia. ring gear ID
>
>* 45.3mm [1.78"] ID tapered roller bearings
>
>* 32mm [1.26"] axle stub bushing dia.
>
>Specifications: RD25
>
>Axle Spline 28 tooth, Ø30.5mm [1.20"]
>
>Ratio Supported All
>
>Ring Gear ID 145.0mm [5.71"]
>
>Ring Gear Bolts 12 bolts on Ø175mm [6.89"]
>
>Ring Gear Torque 85Nm [63 ft-lb]
>
>Backlash 0.13-0.18mm [0.005-0.007"]
>
>Bearing Cap Torque 60Nm [44 ft-lb]
>

Dane,

the Pjero and the Terracan are not the same.
the axle is completely different.
we took it a part and you cant use an ARB Pajero locker on it.
if you have some more news ill be happy to know.

take care

Default RE: diff lock for the Terracan

It was ARB's best guess that the diff was the same as Pajero, seeing that the Galloper was Pajero based. But I spoke with Hyundai, and they told me it was a completely different diff, but they were unable to give me the information ARB needed to determine which ARB diff is required. A bit disappointing. Hyundai's advice was to get an authorized ARB dealer to take the diff apart to determine what diff is needed. But I live en Denmark, and there is only one ARB dealer here, and it's a long way away from where I live. Plus I first have to drive there to get the diff taken apart, then have it put together again and drive over there again when the ARB diff arrives. Plus I have to pay for the work as I have no idea how to assemble a diff once taken apart.
That's why I am looking for someone who has already taken the diff apart and retrieved the information that ARB needs to send the right diff. But there are not a lot of Terracan owners who have tried this I guess?
Din, do you know if the diff/rear axle of the Terracan is 100% Hyundai made or is it adopted from somewhere?

I found a diff locker for the rear.
Its automatic one.
The diff is completely different from all other diff; i can only guess that Hyundai developed it on their own.
after we will finish with the installation of the rear one i will post my comments.
