Default Fuel Problem

Hi all. For some reason my diesel Terracan doesn't start in the mornings. However, if I hand pump the inline rubber fuel pump it starts first go. Any thoughts on fixing the problem please?

From what you describe , it sounds like the fuel is leaking back into the tank instead of staying in the fuel line to the engine. There should be a check valve in the system to prevent that. I will need to check to see if I can determine just where it might be located and what would be required to confirm the suspicion.

Can you provide the year and engine size ? I know you said diesel , but don't know if there is only one size engine used.
Thanks.

It's a 2006 Terracan diesel with a 2.9 motor.

If you are planning on replacing the check valve yourself, where are you planning on purchasing it?
The reason I ask is, not sure where it is located. If you purchase one from a Hyundai dealer, now you know what it looks like and can find it on the fuel line to the engine, and replace it. Would this work for you?

The info I have come across is not that great as far as showing the location. We know what the problem is , but the check valve could be part of the fuel filter on the diesel
or just be in the line to the fuel pump. Sorry I can't be more helpful.
