03 Tiburon BCM Failure!

I have a 2003 tiburon with 80k miles. I started having problems with the blinkers a while ago, and it was diagnosed from the dealer that the Body Control Module is failing and needs replacement. They also want to charge $$$$. I have found a yard that has stock on the part and will guarantee it for 30 days. Is it wise to replace it on my own, or it this something that absolutely must be repaired @ the dealership???? I also heard that if the numbers (?)on the new part match the old one it may not need to be programmed, it may just work after installation. I just need to know if the $600 I'll save is worth the gamble?? Also if any one has a link to diagram this part for D-I-Y girls like myself that would be GREAT! THANKS!!

hi mate yes you can swap the bcm but your keyless entry will need to be reprogrammed to the key fobs and it only takes 15 mins to swap it over and make sure it has the same part number anyway as there are different ones.:D

RE: 03 Tiburon BCM Failure!

I have a spare BCM for a 2003 Tiburon. I tested it on my car and it works perfectly. I am not sure what it is worth but I will sell it for significantly less than a dealership would. Make me an offer.

I know someone who's looking for a BCM; I let him know you've got one for sale and gave him a link to this thread. Hopefully you guys can work something out.

RE: 03 Tiburon BCM Failure!

I'll offer $200 for fast shipping of the BCM. Could you provide a picture please? It seems to be the theme that 2003 BCM's are failing. It turns out my windshield seal was broken and water leaked on mine. It works but sometimes clicks out. Bad luck I guess =/

Let me know... $200 for BCM + fast shipment.

Edit: And mine is also around 80k miles. If I remember I've seen yet ANOTHER thread somewhere for a failed BCM with the same milage. Is is possible that these things are prone to failure?

Tiburon BCM Failure turn signal stays on

As some of you know, a common problem with Tiburons is that Hyundai installed faulty relays in their BCM / Body Control Modules. After a while you will notice that either your left or right blinker "sticks" and will stay on, whether the car is on or off. One would think that you can just change the relay, but it is not that simple. You have two options, the first being to take the car to a certified dealer and pay over a thousand to have the entire BCM replaced. The other option is to determine which is the faulty relay on your own (good luck), find and obtain the correct replacement relay (good luck), and have them switched. This is much cheaper, but if you burn the board in the process, you will be out of a BCM.
Now like me, you are probably wondering how Hyundai did not put out a recall on this issue. The answer is because no one is calling them and filing formal complaints, according to them. So everyone who has already paid to fix it, or is currently experiencing this problem needs to call up Hyundai USA and file a complaint, they will give you a case number, etc. If enough ipeople call in they will do a recall on the part, or if you have already paid, you will be reimbursed for the full amout for the repair. They seem to think that this is not a common issue. Just call them and give them an earfull. Thanks for your time and good luck

I searched around for a while, but I was not able to determine which relay it was either. If you go to car-part.com, you can search around for wrecked cars in your area and go to a junkyard and just purchase ALL the relays and try to find it that way.

Default RE: '03 Turn signal problem
That's acommon problem for Tiburons. It's not the stalk, it's the BCM (Body Control Module). The BCM controls a bunch of different things including the turn signals. The problem is a relaythat has gone bad. Unfortunately, the relay is not removable. It must be unsoldered to be removed and a new on must be re-soldered back on.

If the car is under warranty, take it to the dealership and have the whole BCM replaced. If it's not under warranty, the BCMis a $500+ part to replace new. You can either try to get a used BCM from a junkyard or you can try to replace the bad relay one your BCM if you are good at soldering on an electronic circuit board.

BMC sucks

hey i have a 2003 tib gt 6speed with 75000 i have the same problem i need to get my BCM replaced but the dealership wants 740 bucks !!! my right blinker stays on .. this is a safty issue and all need to call hyundai of america and complain so they make it a recall so we can all be happy.. i mean i love my car ... just not the 740 im gana have to spend on the BCM

NovaResource 01-30-2011 02:45 PM

Sorry but it's not a safety issue, it's a worn out electrical part. And unfortunately at 7 years and 75K miles, your car is out of warranty. That means you have to pay. If you love the car so much, $750 is a lot less than a new car payment every month.

Hearse Haunter 01-31-2011 04:56 PM

I just had a problem wiuth my blinkers. I found a DIY on new tib on how to remove the BCM, where to order the relay, and how to install.
$4 for a relay
$6 for shipping
$15 to unsoldier the old relay and re soldier the new relay.
$25 and a couple of days work as oppossed to hundreds or even thousands.
the only reason it took a few days because I dont have a garage and it was rainy and cold.
