2003+ will not fit anything 2003-.
I doubt the suspension is the same in the 98 as in the 01.
Were'nt the Tibs redesigned in 2000, then again in 2003?

 

yeah, i know they were redesigned in 2000, but shocks for 97-2001 are all the same, or so they claim on some sites, so i figured the coils wouldn't have been changed, but i'm not sure and was hoping for a solid answer.

 

The RD exterior and interior were redesigned in 1999 but under the skin they are the same. All 1996-2001 are first generation RD Tibs.

2003 was the second generationGK Tib. GK and RD suspension parts do not interchange.

 

so what you are saying,,if i buy coils being sold for 97-98, they will work on a 2001?

one more question to all you tuners out there. Weight reduction - how wieght sensitive are the tiburons? would it be in my best intrest to get lighter wieght parts such as a hood, seats, and other parts out there? i've heard with drag cars that 100lbs can shave off a 10th of second or more.

 

Yes, they should. All springs I've seen for RD Tibs were listed as 1996-2002.


100 lbs = .1 sec is rough estimate but for the most part it is true. It depends mostly on the car. A 100 pound reductionon a 2500 lbs car will be more significant than a 100 pound reductionon a 4000 lbs car.
