Default Stalled and wouldn't start for no reason

Wondering if anyone has had the problem....... Driving along one day and my car stalled, when I geared down to 4th, it started again, about 10k later, same thing, but it wouldn't start. When we got back to it an hour later, to be towed, it started right up. Fuel filter, pump, same censor?? It's not chugging or making any different noises though

Thanx, later

I had a similar problem on a Ford Escort a few years back. It turned out to the the ignition switch. Apparently when the contacts heated up they would lose contact and the car would randomly die. It happened once, then again a year later, then a few months later, then... eventually pretty frequently. The shop diagnosed it by checking resistance across the switch contacts. If it is too high, things start getting warm and the whole thing starts.

Also, it could be a cam position sensor. I've heard of them going out and the car not running/starting.

Hey, I replaced the Cam Position Sensor, and it's not that, and it's not the coil pack. Hey Doohickie you said I can check the resistance on the switch contacts, what should the resistance be, 0? And also which contacts? We checked the spark, and there isn't any when it's stalled and not working. There is newer plugs and wires though. Someone told me it's probably the Throttle position Sensor, but why isn't there spark then?

thanx

Have you had any codes pulled? Could be a normal po335 crank sensor .They are known for going out with mileage.Have the codes pulled dont waste money on parts.

I have not got the codes checked yet. I was planning on taking it to the dealer next anyways, no point wasting money.

Thanx

I think we fixed the problem. Crank shaft position sensor. I drove it for about 30 min., and drove it hard, and it didn't stall. Hopefully this is it!
