I am looking into a turbo for my 2001 tiburon. I wanted to know if it was worth it, and what i would need.

I also wanted to know of any thing else to inprove hp.

i forget now what engine you have..the 2.4L? depending on what state you live in, you could get a high flow CAT...and a header...that makes a BIG difference on some engines...

The RD series tib has the Beta 1 2.0 or 1.8L in the US.

There are SEVERAL TURBO KITS available for your car.

Alpine makes a kit, but it's very low PSI. I wouldn't recommend it.

Speed-Factor makes 2 very good kits, with everything you need. www.speed-factor.com

Or just come to www.rdtiburon.com and see all the rest of the info we talk about Turbo's on daily.

The ONLY SC kit for the RD's out there is Alpine's SC kit, and it sucks ass.

RE: turbo/performance

What all does this kit come with? does it have all the fuel mods with it or do you haveto buy those seperate. because you can not just boost a car and expect it to be all good . your going to need bigger injectors or a fifth injector and a means to adding more fuel like a APEXI SAFC and you also need a voltage clamp to wire in to the MAF so you dont throw codes and you will also need a boostcontroller and some way to tune in your car to make sure you are not running lean . Just some thing to think about. I built the 98 tiboron for under 2000 with everything . build your own kit you will save money and have a more custom setup instead of just having the same thing everybody else has

Hey Pure, since your the expert and we are all amatuers at this, how about recomending what parts you would use for a turbo. I'm driving a 2001 2.0 dohc 5 speed. Can you build a mock kit and some explanations as to why you recomend the part, Basically I am asking for a crash course in Turbos101 so I know what I should look for and what I need to know before I start.

RE: turbo/performance

I could do that but first. What is your budget? What kind of power do you want, and what are you looking to do with the vehicle? Do you plan on leaving the bottom end stock? let me know and I'll figure something out

RE: turbo/performance

Well I guess I'm just looking to burn up every stupid kid with a civic who puts on an exaust and thinks he can drive.
My budget is pretty low, I'd love to stay in the $2,000.00 range but after looking at a lot of kits, I dunno if thats gonna be possible. I think I may have to see if I can grab somthing out of a junk yard and make it fit.

As of right now I'm not sure what you mean by "leaving the bottom end stock" I have a cold air intake with a K&N filter. I'm thinking about eventually putting on dual exaust. I want to lower the suspension, this was advised to me because I don't like high speed turns in this car, I used to drive a '92 talon and I could take this same turn I do every day at about 80mph. With the tibby, anything above 70MPH is kinda scary feeling.

Basically I'm looking to put some serious performance into this car just for kicks. I'm not a street racer per say, but I like driving fast. and man I HATE CIVICS. Sorry to anyone who owns them , the rest of the owners out here FL need a driving lesson. Turn signals are the law not a luxary option, then again who care, your car rattles soo much you couldn't here my horn anyway.

So again, somewher in the 2k range is my buget for a Turbo/Supercharger, which ever will give me more speed for the dollar.

RE: turbo/performance

got some details to go along with the building a kit cheap part. I'm sure I can get pipes bent somehow.

RE: turbo/performance

i have a tib engine in my accent and i fabricated my own headers to accomodate for the turbo. If you do it this way then you can use any turbo you want depending on the pattern of the flange.
