Hyundai Tucson P0653
The vehicle computer provides a 5 volt "Reference" voltage to several components and depending on what info each component sends back to the computer is used to make decisions.
If that reference voltage is provided an unintentional path to ground ( short to ground) that voltage can suffer a voltage drop.
If, however " it is provided a path to a higher voltage , it is considered a short to power.
One way to help find the problem is to disconnect the components one at a time to determine which system could have the problem.
This is a job that should be left to an experienced person with the info and equipment to do the job.
It could be the PCM, the wiring from any component, or even a poor ground connection.
Throwing parts at a problem like this can get pretty expensive and should not be considered until a definite cause has been determined.

I have deleted the fault code and so far I havnt had any issues. Any thoughts on this??

thank you hanky for your speedy reply. Just to be more clear with the symptoms i was loosing power as i was travelling above 30 mph especially going uphill. No gear changes was noticed as i floored the accelerator and no speed picked up. I have checked on youtube about common issues with tucson . Most commonly there are issues with speed sensors.
I have deleted the fault code and so far i havnt had any issues. Any thoughts on this??

Has any one tried to clean out the intake manifold to clear out fault code P0653. Tucson is losing power . Car goes totally flat dead at the accelerator. No acceleration. I did notice the arm on the swirl flap actuator had come off. I placed it back in position. Tucson drove okay for a few days and now it's back to square one. Lose of power. Can anyone please help .

For starters,
A diesel engine requires plenty of clean air, adequate supply of "Must be clean" fuel, all at the right time to run right.
If the engine is starved for air it will not only have reduced power but can produce a lot of black smoke
If it is starved for fuel, whether it be from a plugged fuel filter or other reason , it will also suffer from loss of power.
Today's diesels engine's now have some electronic controls that could be malfunctioning.
Making sure the air filter is not restricted and fuel is not contaminated , possibly with water, are good places to start looking for causes of loss of power. There can be several other reasons and these require special test equip to diagnose. If the basics check out, it is time to turn the problem over to a qualified shop to handle.
