XG 300 Motor swap
Hello, I have aquired a 2001 XG 300. It has a bad motor. Top and bottom. I am wanting to put in a good used motor from a wrecking yard, however I have a few questions first.
1. What motor should I look for What Vin code or engine sereis? D 8th didget? 3.0, 3.5? 2. What shoud the compression read on a good used motor for this car? 3. Has anyone on this forum done this and do you forsee any complications, or concerns? Thanks, Rob. |
Be sly and grab a 3.5 from another later XG or Santa Fe.
Most respects the engine is identical, just another 500cc. Verify all connectors and swap accordingly to drop back into chassis. |

Sonata is different engine family.. your choices is 3.0 (XG 300) or 3.5 (XG 350), as both is MELCO and use the 5 speed trans..
Sonata is 2.7 Siemens and 4 speed transmission. Hopefully you were not refering to the 2006-present 3.3 engine, major disaster to install and wire. |
