There is a special procedure that MUST be followed when lining up timing belts. Did you follow that procedure EXACTLY to the letter when reinstalling the head?
What was the reason the head gasket needed to be replaced?
intake and exhaust alien issue for no start on accent
The previous owner had overheating issues, they replaced radiator, thermostat, water pump and timing belt. My researching about the ACCENT ,history of head headache down the road ,ounce of prevention blah ,blah, balh,it was good call my end. Cylinder 1 and 4 over 0.0025 combine across the head.Special procedure to follow is it intake and exhaust cam lobe at CVVT chain end pointing toward each other and 7 link distance on sprocket and the pointing TDC ?.I will do my best to post pictures, let you see what I don't see

Is that a crack I see in the bottom picture?
There are some videos on U Tube that show the procedure to install a timing belt on Hyundai engines. It is easier to watch the video than to describe the procedure in writing..
