Recently bought a 2002 Accent 3 door hatchback. My daughter was having difficulty parking our '89 Chrysler New Yorker at college. I bought a 150cc scooter for her, but it was not quite what we needed, as she also has a part time job 18 miles away on the freeway. I saw the Accent for sale and decided to take a look. It has the 1.6L engine and an automatic. She has not had anymore problems parking. She also has gained confidence driving on the freeway. One thing I noticed was a blind spot, I got 2 small convex spot mirrors, installed them on the outside mirrors and the problem was solved. We are experiencing the problem filling the gas tank that I have read about. I was filling this car, and a Sonata pulled in behind me and the owner was having the same problem. I see that some people are experiencing gas splashing out of the tank with this problem. Maybe if enough of us complain to NTSB, a recall might be the result. Just replacing the charcoal canister is not the answer as the pellets go into the system clogging it. Other than that, we are very happy with the car. It has also opened a new world to my daughter.
