Default 2009 Hyundai Sonata, Manual A/C. Symptoms: When starting

2009 Hyundai sonata, Manual A/C.Symptoms: When starting vehicle, sometimes A/C does not start, but blower works on all speeds. Additionally, lights inside buttons for A/C, Air Recirculation and Outside Air Intake do not light up at all. These buttons are in the same cluster. Also in this cluster are Hazard Lights button, which works normally, and Rear Defogger. When rear defogger/defroster button is pressed, a relay is heard clicking on/off, and alternator sounds like it’s straining. The light in the defogger/defroster button flickers rapidly when headlights are off, and flickers slower when headlights are on. Headlights/blower fan also dim/run slower when defogger/defroster button is engaged. In the AC doesn’t start condition, after 10-15 minutes of driving, most of the time everything turns on and is functional for the rest of the trip. If the AC will work immediately after start-up, only the Air Recirculating or Outside Air button is lit up, and AC button has to be pressed to engage the AC, like power has been lost.Battery and its contacts are good, alternator appears to charge normally. This seems like a powers/grounds or wiring issue, but I don’t know where to start looking without dissembling the entire dash. Please help!
