Default 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe with 2.0 GDI Theta 2 engine

I purchased a 2018 Santa Fe new with all options. We have really enjoyed this vehicle until last year. It threw a code for upstream O2 sensor and began to stall out regularly. Almost to the point of having to be towed. We took it to the dealer for repair. I checked the oil just before bringing it it and oddly, it showed overfull. They drained the overfull oil, than diagnosed it stating both upstream and downstream O2's needed replacement. It took a bit more than a month to get the parts. Once installed, we were told the Catalytic Converter now needed replacement as it got too much fuel/air due to malfunctioning O2's. The new CAT was installed, than we were told the fuel injectors were leaking after car was turned off, thus the overfill condition. The injectors were than replaced, now we were told we needed the in tank high pressure fuel pump. This was replaced, now the big news, they than told us the engine needed replacement. Eight months later, new engine etc and we were told the block fuel pump needed replacement, Ten months at the dealer now while we still wait for parts that are on PLENTY of the newly sold cars.....

I asked Hyundai to repurchase the vehicle which has logged less than 55k. After a few months, the have said they would NOT repurchase under the Lemon law of Washington. I have sought further litigation and the firm states Hyundai is VERY slow to non responsive and we may have to go to full litigation as its been almost a year now. Our vehicle still sits at the dealer, outside, unwashed or cared for, the battery long dead.

Anyone else have similar issue, the long repair times, non response from dealer or Hyundai? Any ideas/insight on what we can to to get action from Hyundai, the dealer or both? It seems the dealer is waiting Hyundai out and Hyundai is waiting the dealer out. Not sure what actions we can take. We just want to rid ourselves of this vehicle, preferably thru a lemon buy back program. I would NOT recommend anybody purchase any vehicle with the Theta 2 engine, or based on how we have been treated to this point, any Hyundai/Kia/Genesis products.

I'm sure there is a little more to this story than we so far know.

Hyundai did have some problems with certain engines where particles from manufacture got loose in the lube system and engines went south.
Persistence does pay as does courtesy,There may not be any warranty protection at this time and you might consider having another shop do what is necessary and get your wheels back so you have a vehicle to use.

Right now the vehicle will not bring much $$ in it's present condition, but if you liked the vehicle and can handle the repair cost ,that might be a better route to go.
You might consider getting a few estimates to put the vehicle back in usable condition. It is a difficult decision to make , but your choices at this time seem somewhat limited.. What do you think?

I have tried to be persistent and polite. Going to push dealer further, our car has been there longer than the current dealer GM. All work is being performed under warranty and most of elapsed time has been waiting for parts. They were initially only going to install SB, I pushed for long block and turbo as contaminated oil passed thru turbo as well. Turns out with lower mileage on vehicle, they had to install NEW, not reman LB. They would not agree to turbo. We are driving their (loaner) NOT NEW car now, wont give it back until satisfied, going to ask for detail and new battery too. Will cap lawyer expenses if any, get car back and sell/trade it in on new vehicle that is NOT Hyundai. Thinking RDX or CX-50. We are fortunate as we have a driver car, we are putting max miles on loaner, not our other vehicles. Perhaps we can get a ski season out of the loaner......

Have you considered sitting down with the dealership OWNER and try to let them know you want to be a loyal customer, but it is a two way street.

You would be surprised how well this works.
The last thing any sales or service dept wants is a dissatisfied customer that becomes a thorn in their side. You should feel that they are glad to see you and will usually try to keep you satisfied. It does work, and the squeaky wheel thing sometimes works , but the pleasant customer is really a pleasure to serve and sometimes they can't do enough for you
.Have been on both sides of this and a good relationship goes a long way.
Don't forget the doughnuts.

Default Why you all have problem's

If you want to know why you are all having problem's ????
If you want to purchase a Hyundai you may as well look at KIA, they are the same Car, the motor is made by KIA
