Exclamation Auto disengageing

I have a 2010 Elite IX35.2.4 petrol with 6 speed auto transmission. On an inconsistent basis after traveling down a hill and on applying throttle to accelerate up the other side the auto transmission seems to have disengaged and the engine revs up. I have to reduce the throttle then reapply to get the transmission re-engaged so i can accelerate up the hill. My VIN # is KMHJU81CSAU 147432

Sometimes when a clutch pack is worn the positive shift where pressure applied to the clutch pack is not sufficient to prevent slipping. This generates heat and accelerates wear . Might be a good idea to have trans checked by good trans shop before "stuff" gets loose in the valving and creates other problems in addition to present one.

Do auto transmissions have a clutch pack??
I thought it was done with a torque converter??

I had similar issue. I drained and filled using the proper trans fluids.
And did not have another issue with the trans.
Of course got rid of the vehicle. Too much rust
(2001 Elantra)

Would take Hanky advice to have a professional look at the transmission
Someone who actually works on transmission and not just any garage

Yes, just about all automatic transmissions have clutch packs. Some have several like forward clutch, reverse clutch .etc.
All the torque converter does is ,multiply torque, and connect the engine to the input of the trans. It does allow slippage and newer trans converters have a lock up clutch inside to provide no slippage and produce direct drive.improves mileage.
Sometimes a fluid and filter change will help and maybe some additives, but probably a better move to get a trans shop's opinion.
A word of caution, Some places will do a fluid and filter change and others will try to sell you a transmission flush.
I don't recommend a trans flush because it cost a lot more and only changes the fluid . To change the filter the bottom of the trans is removed, some fluid is drained, the filter is replaced. and some new fluid is installed. Neither procedure cleans the sediment out of the clutch packs. Never hurts to get another opinion or two !

Thanks for helping us all out.
There is one thing I do know and that is , the more I learn, the more I realize how much I don;t know.
