Default Bad transmission or just a clutch kit?

Got car for 400 noticed it made a distinct grinding noise taking off in first but still drove and shifted through all gears. Also when letting clutch out in neutral you could hear like noise as if the disc wasn't disengaging all the way or something. Recently it started slipping loss of power going up hill/high Rev. Yesterday was driving in 4th just fine came to a light then nothing. Pedal has pressure the slave cylinder still moves normally. No hydrolic leaks visible. Cars still starts and rolls. But I can move shifter through all gears without clutch pedal in including reverse while car is running. Would this be a shot transmission or just a bad clutch. Don't want to buy new clutch kit if it's the transmission. Any ideas?

Even if the trans was bad you would most likely not be able to shift through gears with out clutch in.

SOUNDS LIKE THE CONNECTION FROM FLYWHEEL TO TRANS INPUT SHAFT IS NON EXISTENT. Trans gears are not moving even in neutral.
The clutch is what makes that connection.
