Default HELP!

Hi. I have a 2005 Accent GS. I've had it for about 2 months and it only has 19000 miles on it. The check engine light came on today and I only drove it like that for about 3 miles. This is really freaking me out! There aren't any sounds, smells, or other warning lights on. There has been nothing indicative of a problem. The only thing that I was going to take it in for is that the idle is really low and kind of rough, but that seems to be unrelated. Can you help?

First of all, don't freak. The car is repairable under the 5 year/60K warranty regardless of the problem. Second, check the gas cap on the car and make sure it is closed properly. If left undone or screwed on crooked, the check engine light will come on. It's a common mistake. If the cap is on properly, then you need to get the car to a Hyundai dealership for warranty repair. With the rough idle, there could be a number of issue involved, but all should be covered under warranty.

Yep, a loose gas cap will cause a check engine light. It should always be tightened 3 click every time you fill up. Tighten it up first. If it doesn't go away, take it to a dealer so they can check what copde is causing the light. Itshould be covered under the warranty.

Default RE: HELP!

You may have just gotten a bad tank of gas with a little water in it. If that's the case, it'll clear up on its own pretty soon, because the water will all collect at the lowest point near the pickup.
Don't ever buy gas when the tanker is filling the tanks at the station either, because that stirs up all kinds of gunk.
