Default Immboliser

Hello, i have a 2009 Tuscon and from time t time i am having intermittent starting faults it could start straight away one day and be like that for other days them from time to time it wont crank straight away then i turn it off wait 10 seconds and it starts straight away. My mechanic has tested it for everything and nothing is showing up on my instrument panel he is thinking it is the immobilizer, has anyone had any issues before or know of anyway it could be fixed?

As you know the immobilizer function is an anti-theft system. It works by preventing the vehicle from starting.

There are a few things you might try.
When was the battery in the remote changed last?

Sometimes a key can be the cause of a starting problem involving an immobilizer system.
If a second key that was known to work is available , you might consider trying it.

First ,,,special equip is required to program keys and vehicles.
Second,,,usually,,, only dealerships and certified locksmiths have access to security info.
Some shops may have the equip and be registered to access the info and program keys and vehicles.
Immobilizer systems vary from manufacturer to manufacturer.
A certified locksmith is usually less expensive than a dealership, but you need to check and confirm charges.
Suggest you check with a dealership or two and same with locksmiths. They should be able to tell you what they can do and how much they charge.
