My first Hyundai, and my first post! Dude!
Hello, I'm Wes, a.k.a. Ratmonster. It's a name I've used on a bunch of forums over the years.
Tomorrow, I'm signing the title to my first Hyundai! It's a 2011 Elantra Touring wagon, 2.0, automatic, in a very inoffensive silver color. It was meticulously maintained by a retired gentleman, and his daughter before that. It has 105,000 miles. Timing kit was changed at approx. 80,000 miles. It doesn't have a spare, so I have to get one from the local U-pull yard.
I haven't driven it yet, or seen it in person. My relatively car-savvy wife Jennifer drove it, checked it out, asked all the right questions, and even talked the seller down $300 over that missing spare tire.
I've driven other compact cars, including an older Elantra (a test drive years ago.) I'm kind of into big, V8, American cars. But they're dying out, and imports are extremely practical.
Plans for the car? I hate hubcaps. HATE THEM. I'll be painting the steel wheels gloss black, and putting chrome lug nuts and trim rings on the factory steelies. I'll probably replace the dainty, grey floor mats with some black rubber ones to preserve the OG mats. Steering wheel cover? Maybe. Lowering? If I inherit some unknown relative's estate. Color shift paint job? Yeah, no, just gonna drive it. Well, actually, my wife will primarily be the driver. But whatever.
Anyway, thanks for letting me join, and I look forward to learning more and meeting you all.
Sincerely,
Ratmonster
