my neighbor gave me a 2000 elantra that had sat in there driveway for awhile.the older man was going to fix it after the mechanic installed the timing belt wrong. so i decided it would make a great grocery getter.it had two bent valves. i got the head fixed and while its apart decided to do some extras. so the head went to the machine shop. and i got started ordering parts. the list is walbro fuel pump and strainer,wix fuel filter,gmb water pump,hyundai head gasket set,ngk spark plugs platium,dayco timing belt,gmb idler and tensioner,injecters checked one bad got a replacement and had them rebuilt and flow tested,new injector gaskets,new rubber seal for fuel assembly,gates hoses,beck and arnley thermostat,and a few more parts i cant think of off the top of my head. so i also dropped the tank and cleaned it out.the fuel lines were cleaned out too.then the tank and fuel assembly reinstalled.then a new head unit was installed the caseset player wasnt gonna do. im still waiting for some parts and to go replace my breaker bar the crank bolt is a capitol "B". so far the project has been fun and i have found that hyundai uses pretty good parts from the factory. this car will be all torqed to specs. also after a conventional oil is used for the first 500 miles then a engine flush and clean out then it will have mobil 1 extened profermance oil and a st6607 filter maybe a oversized filter.the cooling system will be flushed first then new water pump and hoses installed.
