Hi guys - I am peter from New Zealand, and I have a 2008 , 2.5 common rail, 5 speed manual, H1 van. I am thoroughly impressed by it. However, I couldn't resist the temptation, and it has a KW unit in it, which really does make a noticeable difference to the performance, or to the economy if you drive normally.
Because I was having trouble with my right knee on long trips, I wanted cruise control. Since there was no information that I could find, we made our own after figuring out how the bosch electronic pedal system works [Not, I might add, from any of their literature, because there was none].
Also, it now has cruise- control, or more properly ; pedal position hold. A bit safer than speed control if you forget & push the clutch in! Drops out if you exceed the stored pedal position or touch the brake, or the "Cruise" switch, again.
Ok, it's not full cruise control, but with an engine with a pretty flat torque curve like these, it's good enough . Just stabilize the speed, push the button, and take the foot off.
Anyone interested?
