Default problem sonata

hello all my name is paul and i have brought myself a second hand 1996 sonata auto 4 cylinder when i brought it i knew i had to replace the gearbox and i did i am trying to get it ready for rego but i have encountered a problem the engine light keeps flashing at me it misses a little while idling it lacks power and it wont change out of 1st until it reaches 60kph i have checked the fluid levels spark plugs andan mechanic told me to try resetting the computer as i have no knowledge of these cars can anyone offer some helpfiull advice on how to reset the computer or any other clues on the problem it would be much appreciated as i havethrown a fair bit of cash at it alreadyits a 2 litre auto engine number g4cpt008063 vin-kmhdf21fptu645638 thanx all

Check all of your electrical connectors; I bet you missed connecting one of the sensors.
