2007 Sonata Brakes
Dear Forum Members,
I am facing a brake problem with my 2007 Hyundai Sonata with about 32,800 miles on it.
I feel that the brakes have become weak and I have to press the brake pedal much further to stop the car effectively. If I pump the brake pedal once or twice I notice that the
effectiveness of the brakes increases.
I also notice that the brake pedal slowly sinks closer to the floor of the car.
Please do let me know if you have any suggestions on what the problem might be?
Also is there is a problem in the brakes then do you think it will be covered in the factory warranty of the car?
Regards

No I have not got the brake pads checked or replaced? Do you think this might be a problem or something with the brake fluid?
Also which brake pad do you suggest I use?

Should I change brake pads for front and back if brake pads are the problem?
Are brake pads covered under warranty or should I bear the cost of this repair?
thank you .

Brake pads are not covered under warranty after 10k, methinks.
However, brake pedal going to the floor, or pumping the brakes is not good. Could be a master cylinder problem too.
But if you haven't changed the brake pads, then you need to as these cars seems to burn up the pad abnormally quickly with the factory pads, both the front and rears.

Before you buy new pads, check them first. As the pads wear, the brake fluid in the master get's lower. Do not fill the master with more fluid if the pads are worn. When you install new brake pads, part of the install is to press the cylinders back into the calipers. This forces brake fluid back into the master cylinder. If you add fluid to the master when the brakes are worn then it will be overfilled when trying to press the pistons back into the cailpers and you won't be able to get them all the way back in. Only add fluid to the master with new pads. If you did add fluid, first remove some fluid from the master before replacing the pads.
