I bought my 05 santa fe about a month ago(4wd), with 51K miles on it. Runs great, absolutely love it. First road trip was a little shorty, less than 100 miles.didn't notice anything unusual. I replaced the front tires, cause they were cracked, and slow leaky, etc.... and did all the usual prep for a major road trip.

on this road trip,(which i'm right in the middle of now) i have noticed a high pitched whining. Almost like it's stuck in a lower gear, and wanting to shift.(like it's a 4 speed manual and i'm goin 50 in 3rd gear)...but.... it's been running great, not problems, just this whine. I think it's my tires....(the car seems kinda loud on the road) i know it's hard to give a opinion on a vague description....but any thoughts would be appreciate.ed....appreciated.

 

Sounds like it's still under warranty from Hyundai. Why don't you take it to the dealer?

 

I will if/when we make it back home.......

*sigh*
perhaps there is something i can do/change in the mean time?
