Question 2002 sonata over rev

HI guys ,I have a 2002 sonata which is a great car but has taken to over revving wildly going from normal idle to anything 4500 - 5000 rpm drops down again only to go back to high revs all with no one near accelerator, had 2 mechanics take a look with no answers except one thought it might be purge control solenoid so changed that with no change to crazy idling any ideas

Did anyone do a trouble code scan? If not, take it to Autozone for a free scan. Tell them you have a "check engine" light. Write down the codes and report them on this thread.

one of the guys who looked at the car was an auto electrician who hooked it up to a scanner and it reported no faults , he ran it with aircon on and off and did a couple of checks but nothing registered on his machine as faulty

Exclamation

well the verdict is back from the hyundai dealer here in perth west australia and it was a combination of air flow sensor , camshaft sensor and crank sensor , very costly if it happens

I would suspect you got taken advantage of. There was no codes, and ALL those things were wrong??? Very suspect.
