Default 2004 Sonata, temp fan not working

Hey all,
So I have a 2004 Sonata V6 (yeah, I know, time to get a new car ) and around the end of March started having issues with the heat/ac. The fan will only blow on fan setting #2 and either the floor or defroster. Just about everything I read said to check the fuses and the blower motor resistor. Fuses are fine, so I went to AutoZone to get another resistor and popped it in. Same problem, only now the fan only works on setting #4, the highest one, and only on the cabin setting. Is this a case of needing a Hyundai manufactured resistor, or having the wrong problem? I know I could possibly have blown a fuse changing them out, but is there anything else that could be the culprit? Has anyone else had this problem with an aftermarket resistor? Any thoughts at all would be a big help.
Thanks!

If it helps, the fan does kick on when I push in the **** and turn. And I seem to have gotten the cabin settings to work. Just need the rest of the fan speeds--still only works on #2

Not sure id it's the resistor. My guess would be the control panel itself with the dials. Happened to me with my 2006 Tucson.
