I have a 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe. It has a power lift gate with the smart tailgate feature. I currently have that turned on, and use it often when grocery shopping. (I rarely remove my key from my purse). Last night my car was parked in my driveway (rear was higher than the front end) and we had a fairly heavy rain storm with wind. This morning when I was leaving for work, my tailgate opened unexpectedly. I closed it and drove away. I have now figured out that every time my car unlocks, the tailgate opens. I have turned the smart tailgate system on and off, and it doesn’t seem to make a difference. This has never happened to me before. It doesn’t matter if I unlock the car with the fob, the button on the door, or actually insert the key into the handle. My husband thinks some sensor got wet and needs to dry out, but I am not so sure. I work in an urban area and commonly enter my car after dark. I DO NOT want my tailgate opening on me all of the time. How did this feature turn on? How do I turn it off? THANK YOU
