Default Gas Odor

Hello:

My daughter's 03 Tiburon has a gas odor smell outside the car. The gas cap seems to be tight enough. Wondering if this is a cold weather issue since it is January in Chicago. Any thoughts on what the gas odor could be?

Thanks

any gas odor is a leak somewhere in the fuel system. get it checked out asap as it can be dangerous.

When it gets this cold, it does strange things to all the rubber on the car. I used to have an old Volvo that leaked gas like a strainer until it warmed up. Remember, it's record cold right now.

It was a bad gas line hose (the non pressurized one) that was bad and leaking. Replaced it and that resolved the problem.

Thanks for all your input
